National Open University Admission Requirement

For those who are eager to be admitted into the National Open University of Nigeria, there are several requirements which you must meet before you can be successfully admitted into the institution.

All interested candidates and applicants should note, that the requirements for getting admission into the National Open University include writing any of the exams listed below’

WAEC or NECO with at least 5 credit passes in the following subjects;

and 3 other relevant subjects.

All applying candidates / prospective students are expected to have their WAEC and NECO results with at least 5 credits in English language, Mathematics, and at least 3 other subjects, which must be relevant to the course the student intends to study at the educational institution.

National Open University Post Graduate Requirements

For candidates who are seeking for admission into the Post-Graduate School for Postgraduate Diploma, please be informed that you are expected to be a graduate of recognized universities or have an upper credit level pass at HND or its equivalent area of studies. However, it is very important to note that some professional qualifications may also be considered.

For Master’s Degree, all interested candidates are expected and required to have relevant Postgraduate Diplomas from the University of Nigeria with at least credit level passes, or first degrees scores of 50% or above.

For Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.), all interested candidates are required to have obtained a masters degree, which is appropriate for the proposed areas of study, and must have scored a minimum of a 3.50-grade point on a 5-point scale.

To ensure that your application is very successful, applicants are required to follow these steps for online application:

1. You are expected to Pay for the NOUN Application Form in any branch of the participating Banks or use the institution online payment system. It is advisable that you use the school online payment system.

2. To commence your registration, please proceed and visit the new Noun registration portal,

3. On the Home Page, go to the Menu Bar, Click on Apply for Admission

4. The next step, once you have clicked on the “Apply For Admission”, you are required and expected to select either of this program which you are applying for;

  • Undergraduate Programme,
  • Postgraduate Programme.

For the main time, these two are the ONLY programs which are currently been offered in NOUN for the 2020 application and registration. This means that you can not register other programs that are not available at the moment of writing this procedure.

5. Proceed and Visit “Choose Faculty”

6. When you have selected faculty, click on “Select Faculty” and choose your choice of faculty.

7. It is important that you also choose/select your desired “program of study”.

8. Then choose/select “Level”
Important Info: Please be informed and aware that the NOUN Postgraduate level is preset.

9. Make sure that you select “View Subject Required”, which will help you view compulsory subjects, which is required for admission.

1o: Once you have successfully followed the above guides, proceed and click “Apply”, which will take you to the payment form.

11. When the NOUN Application form opens, This is the time where you will be required to type in your correct information and details.

Important Information: Please take note that before you proceed with your noun registration, the amount has already been fixed and is non-refundable by the institution.)

12. After filling the form, proceed and Select Bank Branch as the payment type.

13. Click “Pay” to pay for the NOUN registration.

14. This is very important. Please proceed to copy and take your Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number to any bank branch for payment.

This is the National Open University Post Graduate Requirements for the 2020/2021 academic session. To get admission into the Post Graduate School for Postgraduate Diploma, all prospective students are required and expected to be graduates of recognized Nigerian universities or have an upper credit level pass at Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalent area of studies. Some professional qualifications may also be considered for admission into the postgraduate school.

National Open University of Nigeria Admission List.

The Open University of Nigeria has disclosed that the admission list has been released.  Follow the steps below to check your NOUN admission list.

Step 1. You are required to visit the NOUN official portal →
Step 2. Scroll down on the list and you will discover where it reads “Admission List” and click on it. It contains the list of all students, who were offered admission.
Step 3: A new page will load up, where you are required and expected to insert/type in your Name or (Surname). Once you have done this, the list will show if you were offered admission or Not.
